VINTAGE LOVELY CABINET TEACUP & SAUCER FRAGONARD PANELS GOLD BEADING
If you love the Shabby Chic Romantic Cottage décor, then you will love this absolutely beautiful romantic pattern entitled LOVE STORY. This fine china has hand painted scenes of the French court, from the original paintings presented to Madam Du Barry, French courtesan to King Louis the XV. The original paintings were by the famous French artist Jean Fragonard, who was born in France in 1732. Among his finest works were a group of four panels known as The Romance Of Young Love. They portray the free and romantic life of the French court and were especially painted for Madam Du Barry. The paintings were later purchased by the American Pierpont Morgan. In 1915 they were acquired for the Frick collection where there is a special room dedicated to these beautiful paintings. This is a gorgeous teacup and saucer. It is stunning with the different panels of scenes of the French court. The use of gold and gold raised beading is exquisite as is the lace like gold pattern. The background color is a beautiful buttery yellow, just so beautiful! This fine set is in excellent condition, absolutely perfect and gorgeous! It was imported by the world famous china shop Cassidy’s from West Germany in the 1950s. Can you just imagine it in your cabinet! If you love antique lace and linens, all things shabby chic, romantic cottage along with roses, barkcloth, Limoges, Harrison Fisher prints ,then you must visit our shop again!
